Things like the closers which seemed a little obscure and unrelated at first are explained in a way that fits within the rest of the story. Young also does a really great job of tying everything together. We see closure and new beginnings for the other couples including James and Sloane and Nicole and Deacon which I really enjoyed. There was just something about how everything came together so perfectly, including issues from the other books as well. I don't know if I was just feeling nostalgic for this series or what but I ended up liking this book a lot more than The Adjustment - and more than I thought I would. Young does a good job of recapping things that need it - but she also includes cameos and allusions to characters and events in the rest of the series that you get best if you've read the other books. I was worried that would prevent me from understanding and enjoying this book, but for the most part, we are re-learning some things along with Tatum. With no one left to trust, Tatum has to figure out what to do and how to save the ones she loves - before its too late.Īs I mentioned, it has been a while since the beginning of my Program journey, and a while since I read the first book in this duology. And he is drawn to her as well - he seems to understand their history in a way he cannot explain. While she knows interacting with Wes could cause him severe damage, she can't help but be drawn to him.
